Amiro Art & Found Gallery presents New
Orleans artist Matteo Neivert’s “Roots,” a new solo exhibition of paintings
exploring plants, evolution, objects, ocean, Earth and its elements – both real
and imaginary. The opening reception, which is free and open to the public, is
scheduled during Art Walk from 5-9 p.m., Friday, October 3, at 9C Aviles Street
in downtown Saint Augustine.
Neivert, a self-described “magical realist,” is
inspired by the strength and fragility of nature. His paintings in “Roots” range
from the serene – a series of haunting landscapes of icebergs adrift in the
ocean at dusk – to the whimsical, with a study of exotic seashells skimming the
sky. Neivert is art director at Maloney Productions and an adjunct assistant
professor at Tulane University. His work has been exhibited at the Exploratorium
museum in San Francisco, I-20 Gallery in New York City and the Alexander Brest
Museum and Gallery in Jacksonville, Fla.
