By the Sea

The ocean has been an inspiration and muse to artists throughout the centuries. By the Sea, a collection of ocean-inspired artwork will premiere at Amiro Art and Found during the June 6 First Friday Art Walk.  The show will include artwork by Miami-based artist, Jeanine Maleno, as well as local artists Jim Macbeth, Nancy Hamlin-Vogler, Deane Kellogg, and Wendy Mandel McDaniel.  Amiro, located at 9C Aviles Street, will be open from 5:00 to 9:00p.m. during the First Friday event.
Featured artist, Jeanine Maleno, embarked on a decade of apprenticeships after leaving New York’s Fashion Institute in 1973, studying in several textile studios in Italy and India. She developed her sense of color, coupled it with Italian craftsmanship and the clarity of Asiatic design that characterizes her work.
Over the past forty years, Jeanine’s decorative design career has taken her around the globe.  She has lived and worked in Italy, New York, England, Hawaii, and India. Her commercial work has been featured in many design publications and can be found inside prestigious art deco hotels and restaurants throughout Miami Beach as well as in homes such as the Versace Mansion on Ocean Drive and the Ferrari Family Estates.

With encouragement from her children and friends, Jeanine began creating a different body of work. Among that work are the ocean-inspired pieces that will be on display at the gallery, creatures of the sea, rendered in Modern Master metallic paint, latex paint, and sharpie pens. “I am deeply moved and truly honored being in the company of the many talented artists at Amiro gallery," says Jeanine.
By the Sea will be on display throughout June.  Amiro Art & Found is open Thursday-Monday from 11a.m. to 5p.m.with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 7:00p.m. For more Information about Amiro Art & Found please call 904-824-8460 or visit www.amiroartandfound.com.
